Sustained competitive advantage comes from efficient use of resources and careful management of environmental and social factors. We have been delivering high quality training in the areas of environmental management and social responsibility for over 15 years for hundreds of organisations throughout the UK.
Our ‘Managing Sustainability’ training courses provide practical guidance, tools, techniques and templates for developing the environmental and social elements of a business sustainability strategy.
This Environmental Aspects and Impacts, Life Cycle Perspective and Foot-printing Workshop introduces the core concepts of Corporate Social Responsibility and Sustainability Management. The course examines the key environmental issues that affect our planet, and how business contributes to the degradation of the earth’s ecosystems and resources. After developing understanding of these key issues, the course will take a look into the organisational view of managing sustainability, including ISO 14001:2015 aspects and impacts assessments, the life cycle perspective and foot-printing of organisations and products.
The Managing Sustainability – Ethical Trading, Supply Chain and Product Compliance Assurance including REACH Workshop examines ethical trading issues, how they are managed within an organisation and its supply chain and the risks of failing to manage these issues. We then focus on understanding relevant legislation for trade within the EU and UK. A central topic for this workshop is the EU REACH and CLP regulations with particular emphasis on the requirements relating to ‘Articles’ and ‘Substances of Very High Concern’. CE Marking, timber and packaging regulations are also covered within the scope of this workshop. We then examine an integrated risk based approach to supply chain and product compliance assurance and how this relates to ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015.
Managing Sustainability – Management Systems and Compliance workshop examines how the ‘plan-do-check-act’ approach is applied to managing sustainability from an environmental and social perspective. We cover the requirements of ISO 14001:2015 and the extent to which it supports the delivery of sustainability. We provide guidance on how to meet the ‘understanding the organisation context’ and risk management aspects of the new 2015 management system standards, including detailed advice from an expert on stakeholder engagement. Compliance with applicable legal and other requirements is the first step on the sustainability management ladder. We provide an overview of the main environmental regulations and a typical compliance assurance process.
The Social Systems Auditor Conversion Course will expand delegates’ knowledge of social issues enabling them to conduct an audit to SMS criteria. This course is based around the SA 8000 standard, which is fully auditable and certified. SA 8000 uses a systematic approach for managing and measuring social performance.
